Can anyone explain the logic of the Diacovery Channel setting up a huge 'American Chopper' stand at the NEC Classic Car Show last week, just yards away from the bike show? They were giving away freebie AC baseball caps, beer coolers, etc. as well as offering up a mini-chopper in a free prize draw. When I was there Friday they'd a whole bunch of crush barriers set up snaking for yards in the expectation of huge crowds wanting to get a closer view of the Jets and Comanche bikes etc. Yet whenever I went past the Stand there was never more than a dozen bods having a look around never mind queueing. Did soemone get it wrong or what?
If I wanted a Fire Engine, I'd buy a Fire Engine, if I wanted a Snap-on tool box, I'd buy a Snap-on tool box, if I wanted a motorcycle, I wouldn't go to OCC!
Yeah, but they did a nice job for Snap-on. If you saw the series on that and the effort they took to make the bike something special for the company you might appreciate the result a little more. I am not a chopper fan and the lst one I rode was a Bonneville that I wrenched in about 1970, but OCC makes some strange icons that appeal to a number of folks who dig the genre. Guess the chopper thing really needs some long straight roads to just putt along on.
