Barry\'s Bodywork/Fairings...

Has anyone ordered a set of fairings from Barry with head/tail light cut-outs ( ie. for road use?).

I was going to buy a single seat unit for my '99 748, but I'm a fussy bugger and don't want a secondhand one. For the same price as a genuine seat unit I could have a set of Barry's bodywork complete with numberboards...

I know that he supplies top quality track fairings, but would anyone who has them be happy to use them as a replacement for the originals?

My baby is IMMACULATE! At least if I drop it with a set of his fairings on I know it isn't going to hurt my wallet too much!

Would appreciate any pics of his work.

Muchas Gracias...

Stinkwheel.

I have a road set and they are great quality. They will obviously never match up to standard panels, but if you spend a bit and have them painted and take the time to fit them well they will look fantastic!!

It never really occured to me that I would have to get them painted... In all the pics I have seen the finish/gelcoat looks excellent...

How well does the red gelcoat match the original Ducati red and what is the finish actually like?

Any chance of a few pics of your fairings too Lil?

Thanks for your help,

Stinkwheel.

You don't have to get them painted, they come impregnated, but if you want them nice its worth getting them painted and lacquered.

No idea on the red as mine are black.

Can't get to pictures at the moment, but if you do a search under my name or rattlers you will likely see pictures of black bikes which are Barry's panels.

Yep I went with Barry for the full set. Great guy and good work. yes you could paint the panels but I didn’t and just stuck them on The finish is great, need a bit more t cut on the side panels as they are ever so slightly a lighter red then the rest (tank, seat, nose) I mainly bought the body kit so it doesn’t matter if I drop it or cut it for some crash protectors.

There are three things you may need to do once you get it from Barry. (But normally, you would have to with any other aftermarket body kit)

1. The side panels need a little cutting so they fit smoothly around the radiator. No biggie and a Woolworths own "dremmel" for £14 did the job with no problems in seconds (don’t worry you wont see the cut marks after it’s on the bike)

2. Barry doesn’t have a 100% road top fairing when he did mine (last week). Instead he used a race one and cut the head lights out for me.

3. Daft to say but all the seat lights and brackets need to be taken off the old seat and place on the new one.

When it come to fitting the body work. I personally found it was best to work from the top down e.g. front top fairing then sides and then bottom. DONT FORGET to place a blanket on the ground around the bike to stop the pannels from being scratched as you fit them.

Only gripe= not enough vents...the bike does get pretty hot through traffic in summer so with these panels it may be a little worse.

For £300 ya mad not to use him. And he’s quick and professional.

Here’s the picture but it’s not great ill try and get some more tonight (am i going mad but does anyone else think I have the bloke out of the film scream on the side panel? must stop licking the bike!)
