I have had some problems in the last few days getting the bike started and couldn't work it out myself. I had ideas and I tested things but was not competent enough to sort it.
After various phone calls and posts on here and DUN my problem has been solved thanks to MartinH driving all the way down to sort it for me taking about 6 hours out of his day to sort it.
I just wanted to say that Ducati people are great and in this particular instance huge thanks go to:
AK for helping a damsel in distress on the phone Skids and guest1 for providing detailed expanations to a stupid bint that has no comprehension of electrics Lots of folks for coming up with suggestions on the forums Gizmo for sorting it in the first place and sending my parts down John Burrows and Dave Reilly at Ducati Coventry for listening to my problems, offering advice and sending me bits Nelly at Cornerspeed for giving advice on what to check next Freak for being patient with me swearing and crying when i couldn't fix it
and finally to MartiinH for wasting his time and driving down to sort it out.
Bet you wouldn't get that sort of help with Honda!!!! Thanks everyone!!
Nope it seems that our first idea was correct and it is the sidestand switch.
It was worn down when i crashed, but the bike started since then and it has an override on it anyway.
All we can deduce is that somehow moving it or washing it has made things worse and the override is not working either. Current solution is a paperclip and tape but as this was my first thoughts the sidestand switch is already on its way and so i should be able to fix it properly tomorrow!!
Jon Urry of TWO magazine threw one down the road on test in France at over 100mph in the wet, got up, walked over to it and it started first touch, not so much as a broken lever! Witham - who was following - said it was a huge off.
