Tell me I'm nuts

Would it be possible to put a seatbelt tensioner type on a helmet strap?
It would slide open easily under light pressure but lock tight when tugged.

The advantages that I can see are;
- easy to put helmet on with gloves on
- no dangly straps when helmet is off
- no frayed straps from rubbing against D-rings
- comfortable fit every time

The disadvantages;
- expensive to manufacture
- might add bulk/weight
- consumer distrust

Have I just become a millionaire or will I still have to wait for my share options to vest?

Chi the retractor bit you are on about would add more bulk to the inside of the lid mate.
i would have thought this would have been tried by now?

I can see the idea, but I wouldn't trust one.

I'd rather have my helmet too tight (although it's always just right ) than falling off in a accident.

Oh, and you're nuts!
