A Poem for all times...

I can't say I'm a great lover of verse but, the timing of finding this is interesting:

Max Ehrmann

Desiderata

Go placidly amid the noise and haste,
and remember what peace there may be in silence.
As far as possible without surrender
be on good terms with all persons.
Speak your truth quietly and clearly;
and listen to others,
even the dull and the ignorant;
they too have their story.

Avoid loud and aggressive persons,
they are vexations to the spirit.
If you compare yourself with others,
you may become vain and bitter;
for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself.
Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans.

Keep interested in your own career, however humble;
it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time.
Exercise caution in your business affairs;
for the world is full of trickery.
But let this not blind you to what virtue there is;
many persons strive for high ideals;
and everywhere life is full of heroism.

Be yourself.

Especially, do not feign affection.
Neither be cynical about love;
for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment
it is as perennial as the grass.

Take kindly the counsel of the years,
gracefully surrendering the things of youth.
Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune.
But do not distress yourself with dark imaginings.
Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness.
Beyond a wholesome discipline,
be gentle with yourself.

You are a child of the universe,
no less than the trees and the stars;
you have a right to be here.
And whether or not it is clear to you,
no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.

Therefore be at peace with God,
whatever you conceive Him to be,
and whatever your labors and aspirations,
in the noisy confusion of life keep peace with your soul.

With all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams,
it is still a beautiful world.
Be cheerful.
Strive to be happy.

Max Ehrmann, Desiderata, Copyright 1952.

Blimey! I remember that one when it came out as a record,and it now hangs on the wall as a tea towel,still one of the best pieces of verse and Im sure if you were to read that regularly then the world would be a better place for sure. 4D

Probably, a good location to share my Sunday with you when I experienced the highs and lows of Motorcycling.

It all started off so well, uniterupted day, obviously a bit of high viz near Silverstone, and lucky enough to see the first superbike race.

A short while after the end of the race, i had to go to the scene of a motorbike fatal road crash. Who, how, why, and where arnt important here. Just a steady reminder how special we all are, and how quickly life can end.

I spoke in a thread a while back about knocking a door with life changing news.........well i did just that, yet again on Sunday, to say the 38 year old father of a two year old son, married to his 32 year old wife for a very short time would never be coming home again.

Of the few words the young wife was able to say amidst the shock and grief, these were the most haunting,

"I love him so much, he's my everything. What am i ever going to do now?"......

I'de like all the peeps on here to remember those words !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Especially when ,
you're not going to yield, when your mate has come along side into a bend and is relying on you to give him space!

when , you come up on a junction, and you dont roll the throttle off a 10th in anticipation!

When you chase your mate into a bad situation and you won't accept he is a better rider than you, and back off!

Advanced< advanced< advanced< book up now it could save Andy having to tell your missus!
