The Ashes are coming home

Well done to England, I think it was closer than the 3-0 scoreline suggests. There's certainly been some good fighting by the English, although having a few key players not firing, selection issues and the captian seemingly showing the strain has pretty much cost England the chance to retain the ashes. Englands player of the series so far would have to be Pietersen.

Having said that, Australia played well and have done some pretty special things in this series. Hussey has really blossomed, Clarke has performed really well and Ponting seems to have an insatiable appetite for runs - a test average of nearly 60 and the most amount of ton's from any Aussie batsman ever. Warne has bowled quite well to a side that seems to be playing him better and it's taken a few magical deliveries to keep him on top and the wickets flowing. It's amazing that he has 699 test wickets and will get the chance in the boxing day test to record his 700th test wicket in front of his home crowd. As he's a Victorian that's really a fairytale.

Gilchrist rattling off the second fastest test century - 57 deliveries was also pretty amazing. Especially when you consider that it took him 40 deliveries to get his 50 and then he just went ape!

Well done to Punter and the boys
