Well, I'm curious to find out how many 998R's were brought into the country by Ducati UK?
How does one go about obtaining this sort of information? Including which numbers were bought in, ie, 189 of 300 made or whatever. I have no idea how many were made of how many were brought in, both of which I would like to know.
Any help would be just luverly!
Cheers,
TP
PS - Yes I am SERIOUSLY thinking about it ... I've got four kids, wouldn't miss one of them THAT much would I? Some of them aren't even that old really ... I've been to Bangkok before ... hrmmm

TP,
The 998r are numbered up to 700? on the yoke placque.
I seem to recall that official dealers got 3 each to sell?
A good few more came in as parallels. DUK may be able to tell you a bit about the origin from the VIN.
Personally I wouldn't be bothered regards the official/parallel thing. The most important bits of provenance are
Is it nicked! Any Finance owing on it has it been in a smash service history, any r model should have cam belts every 12 months or 6K miles whichever is the sooner.
The 998r came with termis and the appropriate CPU, in addition to the std can/ECU setup, a cover, a pretty basic stand and some sort of little alloy trinket in a box!!
Most of which you should check out on any bike before splashing the cash.

If its of any help I contacted Ducati my e mail from their web site and asked them as to the numbers of 998s mon`s imported to the uk and have a very nice reply stating that only 27 were imported, perhaps if you contact them they will answer your question as to 998r`s imported.
