Did you mean 6.30 Nigel? According to Teletext it's Meridian 6 - 6.30 then the national news at 6.30. If it was earlier and I missed it, did the DSC feature prominently this time?

oops should have been south today sorry bout that.
some sobering stuff interview with a lady driving a mini hit by a biker riding on the wrong side of the road (he went straight into her windscreen and was killed ) also the police talking about how they have to break the news to familys.
videos of someone bieng chased by the police down the m23 at about 130 mph some shots shown last time from the amberly road towards bury hill and some old police videos of the wheelie maniacs at boxhill before the fences were put up .
but also some bikers were interviewed and came across well ie :the minority giving most bikers a bad name
mind you they did interview "proper bikers" or what joe public perception of bikers is black leather long hair and riding custom bikes.
general blame was placed on "weekend warriors" even the police interviewed said it was bikers who ride at weekends and only in the dry his own words were " they are afraid to ride in the rain because you have less control " and "they don't want to get their bikes wet"

no DSC this time

Good description of the news item Nigel, as you say loads of old footage.
Of course it's ok to drive cars, tow caravans and ride horses for pleasure at the weekend, but what are we thinking of riding our bikes on Saturdays & Sundays, this should obviously stop immediately

Gotta say that during the normal daily grind to and fro I tend to see maybe 1 or 2 police bikes.
In the past couple of weeks, in the persisting rain.....not too many police bikes about. Oh dear Mr Policeman, kettle calling pot black?

I know it's not the most palatable subject, but as regards the weekend thing, the accident figures that I have access to ( no spin applied ) bear this out.
Most serious bike crashes - injury or fatal - are at weekends or on pleasant evenings.
It's pretty obvious why...most folks are working 9-5 Monday to Friday - with many bikes being leisure transport
As for not riding in the wet...I think many folks on this board will identify with that thought.

As far as im concerned there no pleasure in riding in the wet, and it certainly has its effect on riding at work aswell.

I know i jump towards a car if its raining, you can do what you need to sitting in a dry car, with dry paperwork etc.

I would also add the hot weather to that, sitting there boiling up on a bike, when some git pulls up next to you and makes comment about the air con...
