I didn't mask mine when I had it powder coated, although I didn't have it shot blasted. The powder coat has made the frame number less obvious, but you can still see it.

Depending on the vintage, there is no push rod as such (not a through-the-engine type one anyway) as the slave cylinder is built into the clutch casing.

I believe most 600SS bikes are this style.
