Just to add, i was thinking more of the nights before and the mornings of the races...

i made some totally fantastic mates in the DP paddock and the Dinner and Dance was a complete and utter blast...

If there's a NE dinner and Dance how many are going ? how many went last year ?

So you havnt heard the common 'axe-murderer' tag applied to so many of the modern riders then ?

I do actually, 4 other series, run by crmc and vmcc, cos they are proper clubs where people try and help each other in the paddock ...

But all it takes to 'mix' is to go over and talk to someone, or ask their advice - I go and poke my nose into other people's bikes all the time :-))

Personally, I cant think of a less interesting class (I'd even race gp250 instead, and I hate 2-strokes)

although somewhat of a one off; the leisure time spent at assen with the people i was with was just superb. cant imagine it being any better in any other paddock.

NE dinner dance? to be honest my life; and probably many others; is so busy i just have to priortise and compromise on many things. if its a choice between a NE dinnner dance and a DSC one, i know which one ill be attending.

dont get me wrong, would love to interact more, but for me simply not enough hours in the day.

Have to agree with Dickie, as I find it difficult to have any spare weekends at the moment and the DD series is only one weekend per month!

The fact that I'm racing against friends from the DSC is the biggest attraction to the series. I really don't know if I would race in another series if it wasn't for DD because the amount of times I have been helped (and also helped others) has made the difference between racing or sitting and watching.

There's a great friendship in the paddock that I think would be missing elsewhere. I'm sure that the other series also has friends, but I'm sure they take it a lot more seriously and are more insular than us DD riders are as a paddock.

Best thing about our series is it is a DSC club series - facilitated by New Era - so we get to do and be different to the other clubs.

Yes we should respect each other, that's what makes DSC rideouts and DD racing as enjoyable as it is. I had a number of opportunities to make HARD / Challenging moves on Phil in our race at Cadwell and chose not to because he's a mate, I don't want to have him or me off and ruin our race and season of enjoyment, if that makes me less of a racer then fine, I'm happy and will stick to DD.

I wouldn't race in any other class or series as I don't have aspirations or expectations above my ability, or would want to test them in another 600 class. What would I be proving and to whom??

We can and do choose to do things differently, Assen, that other clubs don't/can't do.

Steve having spent a lot of time in the last 3 years in New Era paddocks, with GP250's, CB500's, and DD I would say that most classes tend to stick together-the GP250 guys all tend to know each other and help each other, CB500's the same, and DD. The only real difference with the DD boys is that because it is a club series within New Era they really are a separate group and they use our message board rather than New Era's mainly. Just my take on it.

when im camped at the races so far iv always ended up next to some other racers than dd and they have been real friendly.

best part is we all want to get faster all want to race each other. so we all help each other out.

every race weekend so far has been fantastic and ill never forget them
