Ahem.

It happened a few weeks ago. I was running late, and I didn't bungee my briefcase (its like a small/medium soft brown leather suitcase) to the seat of my 748 as securely as I should. I was also "pushing it" a bit to make up time. Anyhoo - as I straight-lined a mini-roundabout at around 50mph, there was a massive bang, my back tyre locked up and I skidded for what felt like ages with smoke pouring off the (screeching) back tyre before coming to a halt. I looked behind me and saw that I'd left an 80ft (approx 5 or 6 car lengths) black line in the road!

It turns out that one of the bungees had snapped, the bag had then gone over the back of the seat and become wedged between the rear wheel and the undertray, and this had locked the back wheel completely solid. The scary thing is that only a few minutes earlier I'd been doing over [bleep]mph on the North Circular. I'm just lucky it happened when I was upright and going relatively slowly in a straight line. Phew.

Damage - 2 rear indicators snapped off, 1 Harris carbon fibre hugger smashed to smithereens, and numerous scuffs to my brief bag (which actually only adds to its character).

Just did a quick ebay search - same as some Honda fitments!

and for Triumph Speed Triple, T509, 955 955I.

Thanks - that's really useful info.
