Has anyone ever seen an FP1?

As Foggy Petronas head into their 3rd season in WSBK, I got to wondering if anyone has EVER actually seen a road going FP1?

I've seen a rolling chassis at some show, but it was sans engine. I personally have NEVER seen one on the road, nor have I seen a road test by any of the main mags, and more importantly given the sheer exclusivity of the thing - for sale - anywhere. I would have thought if they were extant one would have surfaced somewhere. After all virtually every other "exclusive" bike of recent years has found it's way onto e-bay sooner or later, and certainly within two years!

Somehow the Fog managed to blag his way through homolgation, but can't help wondering where all the bikes have gone.

Saw one on the M40 between oxford and birmingham this summer.
Its the only one I've ever seen out on the road,it could even have been one being tested by the press so its no indication of big sales.

Are you sure it was an FP1 Dave? I only ask cos my mate has painted up his CBR600 in Petronas colours, and as Dukerob will attest it looks pretty convincing when you are driving past it.

The press have never tested one as far as I know. They built the 75 bikes needed for the first part of homologation at the old engine builders. The remaining 75 were going to be built in Malaysia. The FP website was taking orders for them earlier this year, but I don't think any have arrived in the UK yet. I would have thought MCN would test the first one in the country, but they haven't.

Sounds like the Fog managed to pay lip service to the homolgation then. Thought as much, not what you know but WHO you know!

That said they've done chuff all, so no real competion there.

I doubt any will surface on the roads, not in the UK anyway, can't imagine parts etc are readily available, probably all of the oil big wigs in malaysia have bought them up, or such like

Still astonishing that 75 so called complete roadworthy bikes could disappear quite so comprehensively! Wonder how much dosh changed hands on this one?
