| Dave ,it sounds like you have a very big picture if you have 1.7MB in a jpeg file That would give a picture about 20"+16 if not bigger. If you are droping the size to 640 +480 about 7"+5"that trying to squeeze to many pixels together so you need to loose some ,thats why the picture looks poor. lowering the image size should help because it will reduce the amount of pixel needed.Then bring it into a more usable form.
