Similer thing Tim.
I use some of the rubbers that mount at the rear of the seat unit to keep it sturdy, that sit onto the seat catch bracket.
Four of these mounted where the frame rails would normally rub the seat unit take all the weight of the rider and prevent stressing the seat unit.
High density foam would be another option as you use.
