I only go by the information that is fed to me by our esteemed Membership Secretary - I'm sure it's only because you're in Suffolk that your email address wasn't forwarded onto me.

I also had a recent purge of the email list to remove anyone who was previously a member but then hadn't renewed, to ensure that these now non-members weren't still getting the email and all that juicy info

I'll add your email in too as it's obviously relevant to you.

Well, there's got to be some benefit from joining the club proper rather than just ligging on the message board, like the discounts, cheap trackdays, freebies, factory trips, yearly mega meets, nights out, etc etc.

So what is the story with Parkinsons?

Four years ago I did my training at Marks Tey and took my test in Colchester, always thought it was ok.
Then recently on returning to the UK I see all his stock is up for sale at an auction and people saying they have gone bust.
Was sad to see that, so am interested in the thread.

Is that what you meant ?

Yes, but then I remembered that anything in Colchester would be nearer for you anyway. D'Oh!

Yes, something like that. RP and Redline Honda (which was the parent company) both went under, so there was a big auction there for all the shop stock.

Read about it here:

Yes, something like that. RP and Redline Hon..hon..hon..unrecognised word (which was the parent company) both went under, so there was a big auction there for all the shop stock.

No worries Antoyne.

I only wanted to know if you knew anything, that's all. It's not everyday a new dealer opens up 10 minutes from where I live so it would of been nice to find out a little bit more (the length of the thread about it closing proves it to be an interesting topic). The last time I checked exchanging information was a free and charitable activity (accept during wartime where it wasnt encouraged) .

An example was my posting the information in the first place, seen as Parkinsons was your local meeting point I thought it would good for you guys and girls to know. Anyways, more info at www.parkinsonmotorcycles.co.uk .

Good luck to these guys, they deserve it.

Of course the exchange of information is a free and charitable activity, but unfortunately paying the bills for the website hosting charges and bandwidth useage for the club message board isn't ... this board wouldn't exist to provide that means to exchange information without the club's paying members!

I don't know anything about Parkinsons re-opening, but I do know about another official Ducati franchise opening up in Essex, which will be both service and sales accredited.

My only questions are about what is going to happen with all the people who are owed money from the old Ron Parkinson motorcycles, and how they feel about the new Parkinson motorcycles (and it's obvious links) opening up so soon.

From the website it looks like it will be in Colchester rather than more central in Essex, so I doubt it will change the rideout meeting place unless the Essex members suggest otherwise.
