Dropping a round & Assen.?

Please can the MT confirm the " drop a round " facility........

The UK rounds are 2 races..........the Assen round is 1 race..!!...if a DD racer drops Assen ! can they then drop 1 race from any round in the UK.?....

If assen is regulated to 44 racers and the grid size in the uk is as numbers indicate 55+ ,thats at least 11 people forced to drop assen.?

Is there any legs in suggesting Assen should be the "European DD Cup round" with points not being part of the DD uk rounds.?

just a thought..!

what do you guys think.?

Phil

Phil,

If you read the rules carefully you will see that you drop two races in 2006, not two rounds. Thus if you decide not to do Assen you still drop your lowest other score over the year.

I am already aware that quite a few people are looking at not going to Assen, so numbers do not appear to be an issue with regard to grid size.

Subject to the people who have still to return the 2006 entry forms to me doing so; we are looking at two grids with at least 25 on each at this time.

Chris

I've suggested this to the DD peeps more than once but had zero feedback.

I've asked for it to be what's known as a 'Trophy Round', where no points are available, just the usual trophies and maybe a certificate for the other atendees as a memento. Otherwise how is it fair on those that are either excluded by the numbers game or by the cost/time issue?

Come on Nick, let's be serious about this...

DD is a race series, albeit one for "novice" racers in the club making that step from trackdays to the axe murderers class.

You enter on the understanding that you score points for how well you do, and how far from the front you finish (Geoff seems to have that particular spot sewn up...)

When you enter, you're agreeing to the rules of the series. If you don't like the rules, either don't enter or get them changed. Maybe the zero feedback is an indication that people don't agree with you?

I think the points should stand for all rounds, and we shouldn't drop any. This is racing, not the New Labour idea of "Sports Festivities" where you participate in team events and all get a handshake and a nice certificate at the end. They used to call it sports day when I was at school and you used to kick each other around a muddy field in the hope of being winners, but that's just winner-ist these days and has been outlawed so it doesn't hurt the losers (sorry, "second winners") feelings just in case they feel like suing.

FFS get a grip. Enter the series and try your best. If you can't afford to commit to the full series then maybe you should be looking elsewhere?

Oy, you had my feedback you nit!:P

think its a great idee mate.

Particularly in view of the revelation now, that the trackday the day before is only limited to 30 places.
This would mean that 14 racers couldn't do the trackday - nor could 'hangers on' like myself/AK - and any club members anyway.
Seems a long way to go now, for a 30 min race with timed/untimed qual

But, we'd love confirmation soon, as having to plan time off - and also finances - as we'd like to WDW, and def cant afford to do both.

Just my 5p wooden spoon worth.....

you can drop 2 rounds. if you dont want to go to assen you dont need to. but why anyone wouldnt want to go to one of the worlds greatest race tracks and race in front of 7,000+ people is beyond me.

When I said "DD peeps" I meant the organisers!
Antonye, you're the first competitor that has disagreed.

Anyway, it's only my opinion I'm putting forward... feel free to disagree with it but don't give me a slating for it. I'm going to assen, but just think it should be in a different format... as does a lot of others!

I'm more than happy to keep the points from all rounds, but the rules are there and I'm happy to accept whatever they are.
Having done 15 rounds and 60 races this year next year will be a breeze

Happy with the rules as they are. This series is about fun and, as Dickie says, what could possibly be more fun than hooning around Assen in front of huge amounts of waffle-yielding desmohead lunatics!

If you can't make it, don't blow a vein, just drop the round from your results. Gives you an extra race to drop in case you crash/get punted off.
