In my opinion ... stick with the S model if you can.

It has slightly better toys than the standard Bip and the lighter (5-spoke) wheels really do make a difference, as well as the Showa forks and shock.

My preference would still be for a year-old R model, as you're really getting the same age bike, but that's your choice!
