What about the tractor driver who was fined for doing 85 mph, heard it on the news yesterday or the day before. I wonder some faceless uncivil servant who usually dishes out the fines has to write a letter of apology.

Saying that when you look at the picture think what would happen if a kid (your/my kid perhaps) was crossing nearby or you'd turned right on your bike across his path and not quite made it...?. The **** is actually leaning across the other side of the car and looking sideways. You can also bet that once past the camera van he then turned laughing to his mates beside him and in the back. Reckon he's got any idea what's in front of him?

IMO what we need is more w@****s like this nicked and executed and that in itself will make our roads safer. I certainly don't agree with the "Safety Camera Partnership" methods of "Speed kills" but in this case they actually caught someone driving dangerously rather than just going 1mph over the posted limit...

Mate of mine was coming back from a ride with the boys and came to our local 'circuit' , I mean roundabout , above the local motorway junction ( 60 limit ) and weaved in and out of the traffic on a 'fast lap' at just under the speed limit while scraping stand/exhausts/footrests etc.

A few minutes later he was sat in the cop car which had been quietly following him round the circuit , watching the replay of the footage of his exploits on the onboard video screen.

The cop then said '' And this is where you did your little war dance '' and played back where my mate had punched his arms up and down in the air after his bit of fun.

The cop then gave him a telling off and sent him on his way. Mate did think of asking for a copy of the footage ......but decided against it....sensible chap

FiscusFish - agree with your comments and I too wouldn't want that w****r driving behind me.
On catching real criminals - glad to see the local boobies doing their bit over last few weeks in Cheshire - specifically Warrington.
The ANPR (number plate recognition) van gets a result and three vehicles removed from road for having no insurance - one of them a 16year old on a scooter. All vehicles confiscated until driver provides licence and insurance proof.
I say confiscate and crush immediately.

I'm with Fiscus on this one - I felt sorry for him at first but being stupid enough to take BOTH hands off the wheel after all the case of people eating / drinking at the wheel and being prosecuted just shows contempt.

Also, 22mph in a 40 mph zonesfrom a young guy in a car with his mates suggests to me that he might just have driving a bit faster before and knew the camera van was there!!!!

Come on guys. Get things in perspective. They probably nailed him in revenge and for no other reason - it's just that he made it convenient for them.

How many of you have messed around with tapes, cd's, food, a bottled drink, lighting a cigarette etc whilst driving? Quite a few I'd wager. It's no different and he'd probably have still had his eyes on the road in front unlike those indulging in the above activities.

Scamera vans don't use still camera's-it's all video. The picture they send you (or show you) is a frame taken from the digital video-don't ask me how I know this.

There was a story recently about a lorry driver who was fined and given 5 points for driving too fast through some water and splashing a WPC who was helping another driver who had flooded their car. She said-he didn't slow down enough and soaked me-ahhhh didums-I bet we've all wanted to do that at one time or another.
