Noooo how embarassing

Just watched a local news item.
Warwickshire Police have been trialling their new steed...

A Harley I kid you not - Jeez they look even worse in Flouro and blue lights

Chips anyone ?

"Warwickshire Police is trying out a Harley Davidson motorcycle to establish its suitability for operational policing.

The Warwickshire road policing unit is one of two UK forces putting the motorcycle through its paces for a two month period.

Officers have been using the Road King tourer since early December and will be reporting back on the trial in February.

The Metropolitan Police force is also testing the Road King model for police patrol work in and around London.

Chief Inspector Geoff Beston of Warwickshire Police road policing unit said the Harley Davidson had been a useful addition to the road policing fleet but that it had limitations for overall patrol duties.

We have around 3,000 miles of mostly rural roads in Warwickshire, he explained.

The Harley is very visually impactive but it's not as manoeuvrable for general patrol as the BMW and Honda models we use in our motorcycle fleet."

We will continue assessing the motorcycle for a few more weeks before reporting back on its overall practicality and handling ability"

"Ch Insp Geoff Beston said it had been a "useful addition", but that it had limitations for overall patrol duties. "

They are absolutely mad if they think they can ride those things through London traffic. They may be good riders, but they're not miracle workers. So yes, Ant, more tax payers' money going to waste. And how many BMWs can you get for the price of one Harley?

And whose stupid idea was this in the first place? Have we got Americans in charge of the British Police 'Service' now. Maybe they want to save money on sirens, because you can always hear a Harley coming.
