I'll give them a call. At this stage any bike for the weekend is better than no bike :-) Some wouldn't been seen dead on a Deauville, at the moment it's looking pretty good to me.

You go ahead and enjoy your Dullsville there big fella

Thanks for the input everyone. I also cross posted this over on the London Bikers forum, where I had suggestions of About Town bikes and Raceways too (thanks Antonye).

About Town could do me a BMW R1150 RT for £390 for the weekend - including European insurance and breakdown etc. A VFR800 was £20 more expensive.

Raceways offered me an FJR1300 for £355 with all the insurance etc.

As Raceways is within walking distance of my workplace, and quite a bit cheaper, I decided to go with them.

Thanks again. This should be a laugh.

So you didn't go for the Peugeot Speedflight 50 then? Now that would have been funny!

While the Speedflight may have been an option, I would have preferred the 996 I was offered a loan of, if I was going to subject myself and pillion to 1000 miles of agony.

There is a guy here at work though who rode a Vesper from India to Italy with his girlfriend as pillion.............. madness.

Normandy here we come! First trip to the continent on a bike I have to admit. Shame it can't be my Ducati. Nevermind.

I've now collected the bike and Oh my God. It's like riding a barge and I am the Captain. Toot! Toot!
