My experience with message boards and forums is that there are always a core of regulars who post regularly, but that this core will gradually change over time. There may be an "inner core" that remains for the long haul, but turnover of contributors is inevitable, in terms of casual posters and "regulars".
People find that their interests move on, or that there is no longer anything new or fresh for them on the forum - either they've seen it all before or they have said everything they have to say, time to move on.
It's not something peculiar to the DSC Message Board, it happens on all forums - the ones that I've seen, anyway.
And all forums have their nuisance posters - to a greater or lesser extent. It's endemic to the Internet.
