I just recorded an old tape onto my PC using the software here
http://www.polderbits.com/ All I did was plug the headphone output of an old walkman into the line in socket on my PC and away it went recording a .wav file. You should easily be able to do the same thing from the audio output of your DVD or telly.
Once I'd got it into .wav format I edited it a bit, divided it up into tracks (the software will do that for you automatically) and imported it into an iTunes playlist. Pressed the 'burn disc' button on iTunes and there you go...one CD
