The route your suggesting would be OK but even if you're going to attempt in in 3 days you'll be wasting some of the best fun in Europe. The trip W to E across Italy can be a bit of a trial too. In that area, it seem that most of the best (read fun for bikes) road run N to S. Think the eqivalant of the A1, M5, M1 and M6 and you'll get an idea of the roads from Genoa/Turin to Bologna.

if you get off the Santander ferry, spend a day In the Picos, and a few days more coming over Pyrennees, the Massif central and the Alps.

Done it both ways. This year, channel over the Alps and across the bread pan of Italy. Visted Ferrari, Bimota and Ducati and a WSB round too.

Rgds,

Rob
