I had that when changing a oil filter on the sps lump when I got it. Made up a tool that sounds very similar. Ended up removing the outer case and locating it in the holes that form the base of the cartridge.

Beats me how anyone can get a filter on that tight! must have fitted it without oiling the sealing ring first I guess? Freaking numpties.
