It is a superb book. Very funny all the way through and once you start it you will read all the way through before putting it down!

My mate Neil translated the books - he was a fan of the comic strips and when the chance came up to do the translations he jumped at it. I know he spent a long time making sure that the subtle jokes, like the guys names, were put into the right context in English.

Not sure if he's doing the next lot or not but I will ask him. He's also registered on here as he owns a 750SS that he loves, but doesn't post much.

Last time I spoke to Philippe about it the second book, the costs of licence etc for bringing out over here was too much.

Shame cos my first bike is pictured on the front cover of it (Honda ST70 monkey bike - I was only 9!)

Heh, you need to speak to Neil about monkey bikes! He did one last year that gave him a whole load of grief! He did a feature for it in Classic Motorcycles & Mechanics - I think that was who he was writing for at the time - that was quite a funny read.

It was brilliant. Well it was when that age living in the country with fields front and back. Went about 100mph (ok 45 but seemed really fast!).

They seem to be back in. I saw a piccie a while back of Prince Phillip riding one around!

Your mate did a TOP work on the translation. Sometimes when I'm bored and I've got a book in my sight, I can resist to reading a few pages again and again. And average French bloke as I am, the English version makes me larf as much as the original French one.

He's a very funny guy - you should see his ebay auctions!

A complete Francophile too, organises French excursions quite often each year. We went snowboarding with him in the Pyranees (Bareges/La Mongie) a few years ago and we're off again in a couple of months for a french bike run. Last time I went (to Epernay, or maybe it was St. Quentin...) there were 48 of us - they had to split the bikes over two ferries as there were so many!
