I changed gearing a fair bit in my first year, I found it worked for me but to be honest I found that 14/46 on my 03 monster suited most places including Brands Indy and Snet!

Yes the 620's will pull shorter gearing but there's still a limit. You can't go too tall with them otherwise you just end up nowhere and struggling.
