Yes, the groaning sound is probably more accurate.

Not too sure I am confident enough to pull the clutch out and clean it.. all looks a bit scary to me

The bike has done 10k, is this as longs as the clutch should last.

As for removing the slave cylinder and the pushrod, urrm, it is what the manual said to do, and there just wasnt enough room to remove the sprocket otherwise.
