The flip up stands can be prevented from flipping up by using the plate and nut from the later bikes, that have the switch fitted. Simple mod and doesn't cost much at all. Using Ducati parts is a lot cheaper than the "special" kits floating about.
The switches can be bypassed using a simple loom or even simple electrical mods that allow the bike to be started but cut the engine if the bike is placed in gear with the stand down.
