As Bianchi says, genuine Termis have a rough feel to them as there is not much resin in with the carbon fibre. The seam of the carbon is located on the top of the can, if I remember correctly.
As they're 50mm, the should also have "race use only" (I think) stamped on them on the top side of the edging on the seat side.
Also there's something about the exhaust hole itself - isn't the plate domed and the edge of the exhaust hole rolled or something?
I'll check mine in the morning and let you know for sure...
