I can recommend coming via Chelmsford if you want to come cross country.
Drop off the M11 at Stansted then try to pickup the A1060 (via Takeley) from Hatfield Heath all the way into Chelmsford - lovely road!
Out of Chelmsford you can take the B1007 and then A176 onto the A127.
This will cut the corner off the M11 > M25 > A127 route.

As both myself and Colin will be leaving from Chelmsford, you can always meet us first and we'll lead the way?

Consider it a deal James-left you a voicemail. I would prefer to go right across country though and miss out the M11 to Stanstead bit.
Just checked autoroute and whilst it is perfectly possible to miss the M11 completely obviously it would mean either backtracking or going through Cambridge-not good on a Saturday morning. Suggest we use the M11 until Duxford junct 10 and then go down A1301 and then B184 to Great Dunmow. We can then either use the A130 into Chelmsford or stay on the B184.

John

PS: Checked the forcast and both BBC and Metcheck say it's going to be

SUNNY-here's hoping!

Oo! Oo! I didn't think of that! B184 through to Dunmow and then stay on the B184 until you pick up the A1060 at Leaden Roding - that's a ride and a half round those roads!

Hi Steve,

Antony and myself are meeting Monty and 007 at 8:45 in Chelmsford, as Monty and 007 are coming across from the M11.
Robnobrakes is meeting someone at 8:45 at the half way house but I'm not sure who? I'm sure he'll be along to explain.

I will be at the Halfway House on the A127 at 8:45am with a 9:00am ride into Southend. All riders on this route are very welcome to join me, unless everyone wants to meet at The Angle Pub, Broomfield Road, Chelmsford.

Rob
