This is a great mod for a quicker acting throttle

Go to a Yamaha dealers and order part 4yr-26240-02-00 (Throttle Tube) for a R1 @ £14.77.

Takes 5 minutes to fit and gets rid of all that slop in the 999 throttle movement.
