With the improved exhaust flow the gasses should escape quicker, but without changing the inflow (ie, an improved filter / airbox) then you shouldn't get that much of a difference?

Running lean will mean it will burn hotter so could cause running problems; it's always better to have too much fuel than not enough!

There is a fuel trimmer in the ECU which can be adjusted with the right kit as sadly it's not the case of turning a screw like it was on the old models. But we can sort that out for you, or just try the DP ECU and see how it runs with that on it.

Thanks Antony, I'll get the pipes on and see how it runs to start with. The re flash sounds great though if you can do it. I've found the K&N filter and also DP airbox covers on eBay; I see what you mean, they've just drilled a 20mm hole in the standard airbox!

Yeah, I was quite surprised that it was the only difference, and I did compare them side by side to check. In fact I might even have a picture...

A cheaper way might be to buy a second-hand airbox cover and modify it yourself. I have a 22mm hole saw which would take care of that quite easily...

You both don't know how humiliating it is to have an 8 year old mistake a watering can being filled from a garden tap for my bike being started up!
