Got to Wait 5 Weeks for Bike !!!!!!

I have finally taken the plunge and ordered my Ducati 749 in red.

However one of the conditions laid down by my wife was that I waited for my birthday in August.

That means I have to wait 5 weeks for the bike. What makes it worst is the PX I have, is going into the dealers today. So I will be without a bike until I get my Duke.
One consolation is that I am away for 20 days next week. Going to Tuscany ,Italy. It just so happens that the villa we have rented is only two and a half hours away fro Bologna. Guess what is in Bologna? Yes, the factory of Ducati. I have been told by my dealer that it is well worth going to see.
Any way, thats enough of me rambling. Cannot wait to get my bike.
Any comments on the 749??

Regards
Peter G

There was an unofficial DSC trip to the factory earlier this year, where 33 of us flew out in the morning and came back the same day.

We all had a great time and the factory is certainly very, very interesting if you're into your Ducatis or just like the mechanical side of it.

The factory tour is free and lasts about an hour. You'll go round the factory first then end up in the museum above the factory which has loads of both classic and modern race bikes in there.

Make sure you pre-book. You need to speak to Alex Corazza who runs the tours - he's a really nice chap and very, very friendly so just drop him an email. Details are on the Ducati site: http://www.ducati.com/company/direction_byplane.jhtml

We were lucky enough to be invited to lunch with the workers and also go access to the staff factory shop, where prices were unbelieveable! Upto 75% off brand new leathers (a new set of Dainese leathers for 275 quid!), clothing and tons of other cheap stuff. It was a great day and well worth the 52p flights from Stansted!

There are some pics here:

and here:

Of course, if you were a DSC member then you'd be able to read the full story in the latest edition of Pronto...

Well done Peter & enjoy.

One word of warning about the factory though. We had a long holiday in Tuscany and Umbria 3 years ago in August and flew in and out of Bologna with a trip to the factory on the cards. When I contacted the factory I was told it was not possible to visit in August as that month is the shut down period.......... ............so never actually got to see it.......only the outside.

Hoping there's another DSC trip soon
