Ditch IE6 and use Mozilla as a web browser (Its free) and comes with the best pop up blocker on the market.

It might not be so bad - a lot of those will probably be things like tracking cookies which aren't really that much of a problem, just from a Privacy point of view.

It's only if it finds real programs that have installed themselves that it can start to play havoc.

Just make sure you run it often to keep everything in good shape!
