So from the opinions of those that HAVE used wavey's (JPM & Rattler) - it's a worth-while change to make?

I reckon so.

I had them on my SPS and R and I reckon they are an improvement over the standard SPS/996R disks.

However, I changed the disks at the same time as fitting a race brembo m/cyl, twin braided hoses and Bendix pads on both the R and SPS, so I couldn't single those out as specifically being better.

As an idea of costs, I sold mine recently on ebay for £190. I've seen them go for £180 - £260 s/h.

I'd go with Tim on this, the 998 setup is good with the 4pots etc, very on/off action, whereas the 996 with standard m/c and AP's was progressive as I prefer. Putting the wavy's on the 998 improved things just felt a tad more progressive, but when pulled harshly really stopped quickly, but the brembo m/c increased the whole feel again.

I doubt the wavy's off the 998 will fit the 999R with radials etc, anyone know? So at some point mine will be up for sale if you can wait a good few months

Looks like they will John. The Galfer catalogue is listing the same kit part no. for the 998S/R as the 999S/R.
You just need to check the mounting pcd and the offset.

btw, the Galfer waveys are pretty good kit. They have the patent on the original design apparently and i've pretty good feedback on the ones I've sold. Come as a complete kit. 2x discs and matching pads.

Mine are the braking ones, that's all I can remember... are they the same?

Discs for 749/999 will not fit 748/916/996/998.

749/999 have 5 disc mounting bolts 748/916 etc have 6.

I'd agree with JPM and rattler.

I have Braking Waveys on my 748R and love them, especially on the track, which is where I guess they were designed for (i.e. competition use ala motard and motocross).

I think the main difference between the two is more that the waveys will resist fade better due to cooling properties. Its been said that because waveys have a constant leading edge, this gives enables the pads to grab the disc better. It is also said that they have a higher pad wear, but again we need peeps that use them brakes properly to be able to give a true judgment:P

i prefer the waveys and kwaks are coming standard with them fitted now.
