Perry McCarthy drove an F1 car for Andrea Moda team which used to be Coloni I think? Was team mate to Roberto Moreno. The car was useless and I think he only ever managed a few qualifying laps before he used to have to hand the car to Moreno. I think the team went bust in about 1992 and the owner was done for fraud. I think P M went on to do some testing for Arrows and maybe Williams.

Anyone remember the woman who also never qualified around that time? Giovanni Amati?

Correct. She drove the Brabham and handful of times at the start of 1992 but never managed to qualify it.
