Why do they put a sweat band around the master cylinder ?

I was told by a racer mate it was to keep damp out of the brake fluid, others say it's to soak up the fluid if you have a crash. Who cares they look cool!

To absorb any any seepage and dribbles........

Brake fluid is Hydroscopic and will try to leech out into the atmosphere......


Animal......do they come in different sizes for brake / clutch ?
